8:07
This project is comprised of pictures that I took of myself at 8:07 p.m. est. from March 1st 2003 to March 31st 2003. The pictures are a collage of me changing throughout one month. The clothes change, the hair on my face changes and the background will change. Each snapshot tells a story of what is happening at that moment. I picked 8:07 because it is a time in my day when I am almost always by myself. I felt that it was a good time to capture an image of myself after putting in a full day and before the time when I go back out into public to enjoy a “night-life.” The pictures do change due to a week I spent in Europe during the middle of the month. I still shot at 8:07 p.m. est. so what is happening at that time in Europe is vastly different.
Pittsburgh
I have gone into The City of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania (my home town) and have sectioned it off with the use of U.S. Census Tract data to fulfill the restraints of community. The U.S. Census sectioned areas off of approx. 4,000 people to compile race economics and housing to get a picture of the location on paper. I will go in and use their boundaries to get a picture of the areas for real.
A map only tells you geographic location, but doesn’t give you a feel of the area. These pictures represent the location visually to help you establish place. You will be able to look at the map and really grasp the areas in 3D that are otherwise represented in a flat 2D form.
The pictures will be cut to in the form of the Census Tracts making a small scale map that grasps the areas of representation. If you looked at the map you can figure out what each place embodies making you have a better judgment of where you would like to go.
