Construct-a-Brick
A participatory work, CaB uses bricks as collaborative constructive units. Many units are neccesary to make up the whole. These bricks are made of adobe (soil) or an adobe/concrete mixture. The simplicity of making and stacking the bricks invites involvement in the placement and layout of various constructions taylored to the human scale; the various constructions will explore the relations between human, architecture and environment. Bricks occupy a cross cultural commonality in being a cheap long lasting construction technique used throughout the first and third world. The use of Adobe as a building material is totally alien to New Englands moist climate. This material displacement strives to visibly evoke the invisible third world which is forever present and simultaneosly forgotton in the United States.
